Chamber News – July 2024
Welcome – Ashley Stetler — back on the Board.
Financial Report – Amanda Peel – Financial update – sent spreadsheets via email as unable to attend the meeting. WCSM Panther Spirit Shirts for upcoming season — committee agreed to continue this tradition – Cost $350 – logo on 100 t-shirts for Panther sports and 25 – 30 second commercials we will use for Rocktobertfest.
Old Business:
September 11th – SOCA meeting — waiting on promotional information to share with members.
Amy Wendel – will contact us if she gets additional information.
Makers Market at Shanes Park – everything seemed to go well – – Amy is looking for local groups to sell drinks and small lunch for fundraisers. Need produce vendor.
Rocktoberfest —- Saturday – October 26th – 1- 5 pm (trick or treat 5-6:30 and 7 pm Costume judging at the Fire Station.
*Tractor rides– location Columbia St
* Children’s games (free) in the alley between Carry Out and library
* Spin the Wheel – $1 per spin to win a prize
* Junk Food Wheel – $1 per spin to win a prize
* Haunted house — need a location
*Fall Photo Booth – Shelley to check with Mr. Post
*SMILE group will be in the Fellowship Hall at Rockford United Methodist Church
* Children’s games – Rockford United Methodist Church ? (Rob ok to use green space )
Business Sponsorships / Membership participation —- There will be different levels of business sponsorship – Lacey and Ashley will work on this. ** NEW ** If a business / member is planning an event / special – there will be a cost to be added to our Marketing flyer — we are holding events to support our scholarships and to be able to help with community improvements we are only sponsoring 2 events per year and beside membership fees this is the only way we can raise funds to give back to the community.
Lacey will begin working on event and we will be asking all Chamber members to share the event information — if everyone shares this will save advertising fees.
Would like to work on a Community Gift Basket and sell raffle tickets to raise additional funds. Will try to have this ready by end of September / first of October and sell tickets leading up to the event.
Plan – finalize events at August meeting then work on marketing and start sharing September/October.
Mercer County Leadership — Lacey has accepted the Chamber Scholarship.
