Chamber News – February 2026

Welcome  —-    Andrew Baker – Baker Cooling & Heating – formerly Mike Bruns business, Jessica Shaffer – Western & Southern Life and also Explore Life Adventures — several new businesses in town.   

Matt Suzuki —Kore Construction will be here for the next meeting.     11 members present.

Financial Report:    —  Kylie  – Thanks from Shanes Crossing Historical Society – and requesting donations towards their next building project.  Will get a quote for the concrete and discuss donation at the next meeting.      Donation request from the Rockford Lions Club — Motion Lisa.  Second Lacey to donate $200 to the Lions Club Quarter Auction.    Have tried to make contact with those that haven’t paid for Chamber membership for 2026. 

Old Business:

Thank goodness we got the Christmas decorations down at the last ‘meeting’ — there hasn’t been decent weather since then.  Still need to take lights off the big tree — can’t until the ground is drier. 

Vantage – 50 year anniversary program  – was held on Monday February 9th.

David working on the thank you  – past sponsorships / future projects letter.

Grains of Love – Sourdough Bakery Café  – Held a Grand Opening / Happy 1 year anniversary – Congratulations !

Economic Development meeting has been rescheduled –  to February 17th at 6:30 pm at Brand It Marketing.

Thank you from Pastor Bill for the support for Together On Christmas – over 600 meals served.

New Business:

April 11th —-Spring Fling in conjunction with the Fire Department Pancake day –  11 – 3 pm

(Pancake 6 – 1)   – Also Parkway 5K beginning at 9 am.    Working on other ideas –  with Pancake Day – no need for additional food trucks – lunch can be purchased at local businesses,  Paint and Sip at the Rockford Eagles, Library crafts / books sale, Car Show — Market Street – will get council permission.  Will purchase car show plagues, timing to be determined.  Second Crossing music at 1 pm.  Discussed petting zoo and pony rides.   Vendor market coming along slowly.    Discussed a passport idea but will put that on hold.

David working on the Spring Fling graphics — request Thrivent grant to help.  Signs and banners to be ordered.

Will be meeting on Thursday — February 19th to finalize all things Spring Fling – 8:30 am Village Hall.
