Rockford Chamber of Commerce – Monthly Meeting Notes 11/14/24

Next Meeting: 12/12/24 at 8:30 a.m.

Those in attendance: Kylie Houser, Ashley Stetler, Lacey Rizor, Mayor Searight, Pastor Bill, Amy Wendel and Shelley Muhlenkamp

Financial Report

  • Made a motion to officially donate the money to the PD for new radios. Pastor Bill made a motion and Shelly seconded.
    • There was a check presentation to Chief Stetler – see attached picture and I believe Kylie may have gotten a better picture.
  • Rocktoberfest did well this year. Total profit was $5,698.05
    • Great job everyone who participated and made things happen!
    • Discussion on doing a donation for a few of the people who have given their time, etc. will be decided next month.    Amy Noll-  $150 for vendor organization.
      • More trashcans, Mayor Searight said the town can help with this, blue barrels can be set out to help.
      • Better sings to point people in the right direction of where things are.
        • Discussed asking the FFA to help with these.
  • Going to move $5,000 from the checking to a CD (12 month, 4% rate) to earn interest on money that is sitting in the checking. Lacey made a motion and Ashley seconded.

SOCA – it was decided to join SOCA in the future. Kylie recommended the $250 membership; Shelley made a motion and Lacey seconded.

Parks department – Lights in the Park, December 1st at 6:30 p.m. for a light ceremony and Santa at the Santa house.  It was decided that the Chamber will donate between $500-600 worth of goods to the Parks event. Being lights, a blow-up Santa, items from Peoples bank that they are selling. Donate the items vs donating money. Pastor Bill made the motion and Shelley seconded.

Other items discussed –

  • Dora Signs – of “Entering the DORA area” and “Leaving the DORA area” to be made, purchased and hung
  • Speakers in downtown to play music/ be available for events – discuss how this could possibly look in the future.

Business update

New Business – Sourdough Bakery Café – hearing December opening

Brand It Marketing – hearing December moving in

Dentist office – this is now For Sale again, hearing the potential daycare is still coming to town, but looking at a different location.

Tastee Twirl – is for sale.

The 3 past “Business of the Year” recipients are working on naming this year’s recipient. Hopefully will be announced soon.

2025 memberships – going to discuss with Lisa to get those sent out.
