Chamber News – September 2024
Welcome: Crysti Forlow and Marilyn Long – the new owners of Ole’ 1820 (Formerly the Rockford Carry Out) . Introductions. Ribbon cutting /Grand Opening (the day before actual opening at 6:30 am!) Tuesday – September 17th —1 pm.
Mike Schumm — Historical Marker dedication / log cabin open house during Rocktoberfest – Will start program at noon. Will be sending out invitations and sharing the Rocktoberfest event schedule.
The museum will be open as well. Lacey will talk to Vaughn about tractor rides to the park — will put on hold until next meeting.
Financial Report – Kylie – We have been getting some sponsorships for Rocktoberfest ! Thank you.
We have closed the Crime Awareness Fund and will be presenting a donation to the Rockford Police Department.
New Business
Ole’ 1820 – Grand Opening / Ribbon Cutting – Tuesday – September 17th, at 1 pm.
New Business – Sourdough Bakery Café will be opening in October / November. Will be scheduling a ribbon cutting.
New Business Venture – Rockford Eagles Kitchen – Sit down dining and now open to the public –
Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Old Business:
September 11th – SOCA meeting — We helped sponsor the event and counts as our promotion for Anthem benefits. We will be getting invoices to help pay for the venue rental and meals.
Rocktoberfest —- Saturday – October 26th – 1- 5 pm (trick or treat 5-6:30 and 7 pm Costume judging at the Fire Station. Check list of what we have to date with final meeting to be held on Tuesday – September 24th at 8:30 am
*Tractor rides– location ?? Will talk with Vaugh / Shelley will get farming back drop for photos – need bales of hay
* Children’s games (free) in the alley between Ole’ 1820 and library – Library Sponsorship
* Take and Make Crafts / Book Sale – Rockford Library
* Petting Zoo — behind the library
* Fremont – Gold Sponsorship – donation of Rockford Ketchup — will be getting 60 cases and will try to order 40 more. Purchase by the case $15.00 limit 2 per person. (16 bottles per case) Purchase at the tent – Chamber pop up.
* Spin the Wheel – $1 per spin to win a prize – Ashley has been picking up prizes –NHS volunteers to help – location under the tent on Market St. – Will need start up $$?
* Junk Food Wheel – .25 per paddle to win a prize – Sponsored by Wabash Communications / Wabash Volunteers to help –= location under the tent on Market St. – Will need start up $$
* Haunted house — working a location / volunteers/ cost to go through ?
*Parkway SMILE group will be at Rockford United Methodist Church –
* Children’s games – inflatables / mini golf
* Smoky meat sandwiches by donations
* Possible having tractor ride loading zone
Mini Food Truck rally —- 6 trucks coming – Buckeye soft serve ice cream and Deaf Dog coffee will be at Ole 1820 – RCO to go, Fork in the Road, Wicked Wraps, Meats a Movin
Cruise in on Columbia St —- Sponsored by Tranquility of Rockford – will be collecting $5 registration donation.
Market Street tent — Shelley has arranged from Minister Tent — location even with the Peoples Bank driveway so there is access to the ATM.
Main Street – no parking 8 am to 8 pm —– Will need someone to place cones in the AM
Music — Blind date 1 – 3 pm and The Barber 3 – 5 pm @ the Tent
Vendor Market – 50 so far !
