Mary Beougher brought the meeting to order at 8 am at the Rockford Village Hall. There were 14 members present. Nice to see everyone !
The Jazzy Chef prepared some breakfast casseroles and we took a Grand Opening picture. We will do a press release on Rockford’s newest catering business.
The February minutes were read and approved.
Chief Paul May gave a presentation to the Chamber regarding the need for updated equipment. Tasers / cartridges/ and body cams. As with all electronics and equipment items get outdated and are no longer supported by the companies that sell them. The department would like full-time officers to have current and updated equipment. The older equipment will go the part time officers and the older equipment will be phased out. There is a Crime Awareness Fund that has been part of the Chamber, but the funds don’t get used very often. There was a motion and all approved to help the police department get the upgraded equipment. We will do a press release once we receive the check.
The Combined Charity Drive is what funded the Crime Awareness Fund. We haven’t had a charity drive in the last several years. Some fundraising ideas came up to reimburse the funds we will be using. Maybe a dunk tank at Community Days with the Police department and the Sheriff Grey. Other ideas – bakeless bake sale and even trying to bring back the Charity drive. To be discussed at another meeting.
The Bicentennial Committee will be sponsoring a Ham Loaf Dinner on April 2nd before the Lions Club Varity Show at the Parkway High School Tickets cost
$8.00 for Adults and $5.00 for children. Tickets available at Barrys Family Market or His n Hers.
The members approved a donation of $200 to the Lions Club for the Variety Show and $25 to the Rockford Community Days Car Show.
The phone directory / business directory and web site updates will begin April 1st. Please have memberships turned into the Chamber office by the end of next week. –
March 18th.
We are looking for some new photos to use in the directory. Marie is willing to donate her time to get some of this information updated. Brand It Marketing will be helping with proofing of the new directory.
