Meeting Minutes: September 4, 2012
RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS:
Council called to order by Mayor Amy Joseph on
Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 7:30 pm at the Rockford Village Hall.
Invocation was given by Gene Steiner Pledge of Allegiance
Those present: Gehle, Steiner, Pontsler, Searight, Heitkamp. Hodge – absent
Also attending: Tom Beahrs, Amy Kronenberger of the Daily Standard, Chief May, Judy Koesters, Nancy Leighner and Marti Lentz
Motion Steiner. Second Gehle to accept Agenda as orders of the day with addition of Resolution 06-12.
Searight called for the question. Steiner = y, Gehle, Searight, Pontsler = y, Heitkamp = y. Passed 5 yes.
Motion: Searight. Second Pontsler to accept the minutes from the
August 21, 2012 council meeting as presented. Gehle called for the question. Searight = y, Pontsler = y, Gehle = y, Steiner = y, Heitkamp = y,

Mayor’s Report and Correspondence:
Village Administrator’s Report – Jeff Long – absent. Report by Tom Beahrs
Grinding on the streets may begin this week.
We will be contacting the engineering firm to get the contractor back in the village to complete some reseeding.
Several light poles were replaced this week. Other lights should be repaired. We purchased a used leaf machine from Coldwater for $5,000.
Tom will be filling in for Jeff while he is on medical leave at least a month.
Committee Reports:
Finance Committee – Steve Gehle
Motion Steiner to pay the bills in the amount of $22,355.65. Second Searight. Pontsler called for the question. Steiner = y, Searight = y, Pontsler = y, Gehle = y, Heitkamp = y. Passed 5 yes.
A meeting before council regarding the Fire Levy and Dublin Township was held and the recommendation from the committee is to withdraw the Fire Levy on the November 6th ballot. Dublin Township will run a Fire Levy for fire protection that includes the Village of Rockford. There is no need for 2 levies.
RESOLUTION 06-12
A RESOLUTION WITHDRAWING THE LEVY FOR RENEWAL TAX FOR FIRE PROTECTION IN EXCESS OF THE TEN MILL LIMITATION.
Motion Searight. Second Heitkamp. Steiner called for the question. Searight = y, Heitkamp =y, Steiner = y, Gehle = y, Pontsler = y. Passed 5 yes.

There will be a re-scheduled committee meeting on September 18th to review the proposed new Peddlers and Solicitor ordinance at 6:30 pm.
Old Business
Our current liability insurance would not cover the radio station. We would need a specialized coverage. We will be getting a quote and report back to Council.
