Their duty was to serve; our duty is to remember!
The Rockford American Legion Post 508 and the Rockford Bicentennial Committee are working together to construct a Veterans Memorial at Hedges Park. The memorial is already under construction beside the American Legion on U.S. Route 33 in Rockford. This stately memorial will easily be seen by the local community, and the many travelers passing by Hedges Park.
About the Memorial
The memorial will consist of 5 monuments. Each representing a branch of the military; The Navy, The Marines, The Coast Guard, The Army, and The Air Force. In addition, the Veterans Memorial will include three flags: 1 American Flag, 1 Ohio State Flag and 1 POW Flag. Lastly, around these flags and memorial will be a walking path with benches.
