Mayor’s Welcome to the Village of Rockford.

Welcome to Rockford, Ohio. As Mayor I want to thank you for your interest in our community and what we have to offer. We’re a small community that has a great park, numerous civic organizations that enrich the whole community, churches and volunteer groups of all sorts.

We’re easily accessed by one major highway US 33 and a secondary route St. Rt 118, and we’re close to St Rt 117 and St Rt 707. Rockford is located alongside the Saint Mary’s River, which was very important in its early days. This town has many historical roots as we were the first town to be established in Mercer County dating back to 1820. The presence of US 33 was built upon an old Indian trail which linked us to St. Marys OH and Ft. Wayne IN. We also have what many believe is our town founder’s log cabin in a restored manner in our park.

But we have more than just history as we have things to do in Rockford. The Fire Department has its Reverse Raffle and Chicken Dinner on September 13^th. Then the Chamber of Commerce is putting on Rocktoberfest, on October 25^th, which offers many street side vendors, offering a variety of items that can be purchased that are unique and often homemade that are truly special. This is all provided right in the middle of our downtown. We top it off the day with an early evening “Trick or Treat” night which many in the area has said it is unique. After that we have costume judging for different ages at our Fire Station for many ages of youth and older.

With fall in the air, make plans to visit to Rockford and check out our businesses and take a drive around town.  It’s our people that makes Rockford special, as it’s a great place to live, work, and play.
