Mayor’s Welcome to the Village of Rockford.

Welcome to Rockford, Ohio! You may not know we are on the banks of the St. Mary’s River, and we are the first town to be established in Mercer County Ohio. Rockford was an important trade designation in the 1800’s and we have evolved from those earlier days to now a small village. We now have a major highway that links us to places like Columbus and Ft. Wayne Indiana and we are within minutes from Interstates 75 and 65, or even closer to US 30. To do this we utilize US 33, which intersects with State Route 118 going through our downtown.

Rockford is a small village of 1,051 as of the 2020 Census. Our town is not about how many people we have living here, it is about the “people” that we do have living here. People that genuinely care for one another are what makes our town unique. It is where next-door neighbors genuinely look out for their neighbors and friends.

We have businesses that have called their home in Rockford like Betsey’s Boutique, Grains of Love Sourdough Bakery and Café, and Brand-It Marketing that have greater reach than just this local area. The Fremont Co. is a state-of-the-art production plant that produces many private labeled ketchups and barbecue sauces for domestic and foreign markets. This includes “Rockford Catsup” which is a local favorite. We are also home to Tuway Manufacturing Plant, which makes innovative textile cleaning products and programs. A business that’s over one hundred years old.

With winter being here, enjoy the Christmas Lights that illuminate Shanes park until 10 pm throughout the end of the year. If you are around here for Christmas, stop in on Christmas Day for a free Christmas Dinner at Shanes Park – Event known as Together on Christmas which is held in the Community Building. Otherwise take a walk in our downtown or take a drive and just enjoy what a small town has to offer.  We enjoy having you here and hope you enjoy it as well.
