NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT

This has been a rather slow fall for the society as we have had our usual monthly meeting with guest speakers. Our attendance has been great with 60- 70 people attending out meetings.

We want to thank Lucas Minnich, social studies teacher at Parkway Hish School, who encourages his students by giving extra credit by attending and then more credit for each guest they bring with them. We have had one student who brought mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, and two siblings. He was a good enough student that he probably did not need the credit to get an ‘A’.

NEW ITEMS

Mike Burns donated some booklets and catalogs he found in one of his buildings that are from the J B Dull & Son Hardware which was located in the building. Included was Seneca Stock Book and numerous catalogs (dated 1910-1911) from the De Laval Cream Separator company. Cream separators were priced from $40-$160.

Charlene Hawk gave us a booklet that was recently published and lists the Veterans of the War of 1812 from nine counties of NW Ohio including Mercer County.

A set of salt and pepper shakers was donated from the family of Fred Kern.

We received a number of pictures from the estate of Mary Ann Michael Harria who worked in the local Rockford Telephone Company as an operator.
